Late Fee for GSTR-3B Filing

GSTR-3B is a monthly summary return that needs to be filed by registered taxpayers. Late filing of GSTR-3B attracts a penalty and is divided into two categories:

Nil Tax Liability

If you have no tax liability for the particular month, the late fee is capped at ₹20 per day (₹10 per day each under CGST and SGST).

Tax Liability

If you have any tax liability for a particular month, the late fee is ₹50 per day (₹25 per day each under CGST and SGST). The total late fee is capped at a maximum of ₹10,000 (₹5,000 each under CGST and SGST).

To calculate the late fee, you need to determine the number of days of delay from the due date of filing GSTR-3B until the actual filing date. Multiply the applicable daily rate (as mentioned above) by the number of days of delay to get the late fee amount.
